The TV Westerns Litter is
going to be on TV! A few weeks ago, we were
invited by the producers of Animal Planet to bring our
kittens into Manhattan for a segment they were shooting
called Kittens 101. These are some of the shots
included in the thank you card the producer sent us.
Look for Janey and Jack's kittens on Animal Planet this
fall. |

August 8, 2010 - Astra had
her first heart ultrasound done today. Her heart
was determined to be normal and healthy. |

July 26, 2010 - Today we
drove up to Tufts University so that
Jack could
participate in Dr. Lisa Freeman's
study on
the effects of nutrition and HCM in Maine Coons.
Jack was tested by x-ray, DNA and ultrasound. Even
though we've already had Jack DNA-tested and echoed
twice before, it was good to be reassured again that our boy
continues to screen clear with a normal healthy heart.
Good news for us as breeders plus it was nice to
contribute to the research which may benefit future
generations of Maine Coons. Unfortunately Janey and Astra weren't
eligible to participate since one is nursing kittens and
the other is under the age of two years. |

In Loving Memory of TICA RW, SGM Ebony
4/12/88 - 2/24/09

Ebony was born April 12, 1988 in our
backyard! We managed to coax her
into a humane trap when she was 6
months old and had her spayed. She
continued to live outside with her
mother and siblings until we
convinced her to come inside and
live with us in October of 1991.
Ebony was our constant companion
ever since, usually
sitting on Phil’s desk between
him and his computer monitor.
Over the years many visitors
commented on her stunning solid
black coat, vivid green eyes and
delightful disposition. So…. in
January of 2007, shortly before
Ebony’s 19th birthday, we
decided to see if she’d like to be a
show cat. Well she loved it! She
climbed the scratching post and
wowed everyone who saw her. She went
on to earn a Supreme Grand Master
title in five shows and earned a
ninth place Regional Win in the NE
Region of TICA. She was honored at
one of her first shows with a
special ribbon for the oldest cat in
show. Ebony retired from
showing and continued to grace our
lives and home with her ageless
wisdom and beauty for another two years,
leaving us just a few weeks shy of her 21st
birthday.
We will always
miss Ebony's shining presence, rumbling purr and meows
of greeting when we came home. Rest well sweet Ebony and
enjoy the warmth and peace of the Rainbow Bridge. |
